Reaching Out to Communities
Jesus left his disciples with a command to ‘love one another as I have loved you’ (John 13:34) – selflessly, sacrificially, generously. We embrace this command as our mission to share the blessings we have received with others in our community and beyond.
Blue Christmas: We collect toys each December for the local program offered by our Fire and Police Departments to make sure that Irving children have gifts for their Christmas celebrations.
Family Promise of Irving: We are part of a network of churches who help to meet the needs of families in Irving in homeless situations. We offer housing on a rotating basis, a week at a time about 4 times during the year, providing families with children a safe place to sleep at night and to receive supper together as well as food supplies for their breakfast and lunch, whether at work, school, or the Family Promise Day Center.
Irving Cares: We support this community organization both financially from our offerings and by collecting food, paper products, and other needs each week.
Meals on Wheels: We provide a team of volunteers on a rotating schedule with others in the community who deliver prepared meals to those who are not able to get out or who do not have the resources to daily meet their food needs.
Mike’s Kids: Each November, we collect new socks and underwear for children and gently used clothing for men, women, and children as well as gently used toys to be sent to Southwest Good Samaritan Ministries in the Texas Valley.
Partner in Education: We connect with Paul Keyes Elementary School each year to provide adult Mentors and/or Reading Buddies as volunteers each week, working with students who need a little extra help. Training and background checks are provided.
Special Offerings: Through The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), we participate in several special offerings throughout the year, supporting Higher Education institutions, the Christian Church in the Southwest, Reconciliation, and Week of Compassion which helps those in disaster areas.
Supplies for Success: Each Summer we collect school supplies to provide the children and youth of Irving the basic supplies they will need for a new school year. This summer supplies may be brought to the church through July 21, 2022!
